The newest mission venture approved by our Board of Directors is a mission concept named Lutheran Neighborhood Schools (LNS). Each LNS school will have fewer than 50 students and will focus on a liberal arts education built on a foundation of Lutheran doctrine, curiosity, and service. Students will be challenged to walk their own exploratory path in a rewarding and content-rich curriculum while also being an integral part of the supporting congregation. We have certainly experienced the joys of growth, but dotted across the landscape are also remnants of congregations and schools that were once filled with preaching, teaching, serving, and sharing the Gospel. We boldly ask you to prayerfully consider participating in our GivingTuesday effort on (or before) November 28 to help us raise $500,000 to continue planting distinctly Lutheran congregations and schools in identified areas of opportunity. Covering the southern third of the state of Wisconsin, the District serves nearly 90,000 baptized members in more than 200 congregations, 25 preschools, 50 elementary schools, 7 high schools, and 1 university. In addition to proclaiming the Gospel within our congregations, each of us has the opportunity to help one another do it outside of our own reach, out of our local neighborhoods, or even in another language. Our elected, called, and appointed staff members serve as advisors and general resources to the members of our District.
